Creative Approach
That feeling when you land a new client.

1. Know Your Niche

Without a niche, you're a chicken with your head cut off. What is it about you that makes you better than everyone else? It is crucial to find your X-factor and stick to it. Keep in mind that this should be something that excites you and you're confident in doing. When you're tempted by a company that has needs which are outside of your niche, know when to say no. It will save you stress in the long run.

2. Find 10 Businesses

For step number two, find ten businesses within your niche that you would like to work with. Keep in mind, you're approaching businesses in this scenario. They may not want or even know that they need someone like you running their marketing and ads for them. So, make sure you're very familiar with their business and have case studies or results prepared for them right away.

3. Instagram Stalk

In order to properly assess and address a company regarding their marketing, we need to find out what their current marketing consists of. This is where you're going to intensively look at their last 30 organic posts and read through their copy as well. By doing so, you will know how you're going to be able to help them. You need to find their strengths and address them, but also find their weaknesses and be ready to prove to them that you can help.

4. Review Their Creative

In step number four, you are going to find a few pieces of creatives from their social media accounts and turn them into a video. This short video that you're creating is going to mock or represent an "ad" that you would be running for them. These videos do not take long to create once you have it down. They will probably take you 10-15 minutes per video when you've had some practice. 10-15 minutes of creation can equal several new clients and impressing business owners. We will review the awesome apps used to make the videos later in the article.

5. Slide Into Their DM's

For this step, you're going to slide into their DM's as if you were trying to acquire a late-night hangout. This is where you're going to reach out to this business and create your first impression. People sometimes get it wrong here. Being too aggressive or even too laid-back can cause you to lose the deal before it starts. It should vaguely look similar to the following:

“Hey, COMPANY! My name is John Smith and I own _____ agency. Your product is awesome. Can we get on a quick call to discuss this?" (Referring to the video you attached to your message)

6. Rinse & Repeat

In step number two, you chose 10 businesses that you would like to work with within your niche. Now, create their custom videos using photos from their channels, edit your message, and send to all 10 of your potential clients.

7. Try, Try Again

You may not get ten out of ten responses from your initial message that you sent to the businesses. In this step, you are going to create another video for each business using different photos and try again. This time, send a more in-depth message that dives into your success in the past and what you may be able to do for them as a client.

8. Response Rate

After sending a couple of messages to your top ten companies, you'll hear back from at least one of them. But if you put effort into it, you'll probably actually hear back from three or four.

How Is It Done?

For this method, we recommend a few separate apps:

  • Plotograph: This app makes things move
  • LumaFusion: This is a great video-editing app for beginners
  • Documents: Allows you to download YouTube videos for music
  • MagicEraser: Erases things such as backgrounds
  • VideoLut: Color grades pictures and videos

In Conclusion

This is a proven system that will allow you to get on a phone call or email chain with potential clients. From there, it is up to you to kick those sales skills in gear and seal the deal. However, this method will get your foot in the door and your videos on their minds. If you take the time to learn these apps, be resourceful, and simply create sample content, you'll have success with this creative approach.

Happy Hunting!
